Puerto Rico II, 2009 - May 2009, Luke Mahler and I went down to Puerto Rico to collect several species, including two large series of Anolis cristatellus for a collaborative project with Jason Kolbe. Pictured right, I jump out of the way as a big wave hits the rocky intertidal zone Luke and I had been exploring. (Photo LM.)
Puerto Rico I, 2009 - February 2009, I had the opportunity to get away from a terrible winter in Beantown and visit Puerto Rico in advance of a field trip planned for later this spring. Beautiful, but man-made, Lago Caonillas is pictured left.
Vieques, 2008 - Late March of 2008, Luke Mahler (pictured right), Alexis Harrison, and I visited the Puerto Rican island of Vieques looking for a rare color morph of Anolis cristatellus as well as for the (possibly extinct) Culebra giant anole, Anolis roosevelti.
New Zealand, 2007 - June 2007, Brian Langerhans, Luke Mahler, and I had the opportunity to attend the 'Evolution' meetings in New Zealand, and we took a few pictures to document the trip.
Vieques & Main Island, 2007 - Late January through early March of 2007, Carolyn Tepolt, Jon Sweeney, and I visited the Puerto Rican island of Vieques to capture Anolis cristatellus as part of a mark-recapture selection study commenced last summer.
Vieques & Puerto Rico, 2006 - June through early July of 2006, two undergraduate field assistants, Molly Sobotka and Tori Fancher, and I visited Vieques, Culebra, and the main island of Puerto Rico primarily to mark A. cristatellus with visible implant elastomers as part of a mark-recapture project designed to study the evolution of constraint.
Puerto Rico, 2006 - March of 2006, Jason Kolbe, Butch Brodie III, and I visited the main island of Puerto Rico to collect A. cristatellus and A. evermanni for P matrix estimation and breeding, as well as A. gundlachi, A. krugi, and A. pulchellus for P matrices.
Puerto Rico, 2005 - August through mid-Septermber of 2005, Brian Langerhans and I visited the main island of Puerto Rico and the Spanish Virgin Island of Vieques to collect A. cristatellus for the purposes of estimating P and D matrices, and for breeding.
